TROUT
Size:
Typically 10 to 16 inches,
though fish from 5 to 8 pounds are commonly caught.
Where Found: Native to streams of the West Coast, rainbows have been
stocked in cold streams and lakes across the continent. They also thrive in the
Great Lakes.
Rainbow trout are active feeders that strike small spinners and spoons, worms,
and artificial baits like Power Nuggets. They’re also prized by fly-fishermen,
as their keen eyesight demands careful presentations and their exciting runs and
leaps make for extreme excitement.
